Introducing Ismahan, our Sales Manager

Ismahan, Sales Manager

Date you joined the Partners team: April 2015

Job title: Sales Manager

What’s the best part of your role? What do you look forward to at work?

l love being a part of all of it. You see different demographics of people in different parts of their lives all the time.

I also love being part of this organization with a lot of the charity work that we do. It has motivated me to step outside of my comfort zone and try to be that much better as a person. It’s the values. It’s more than just work. It’s about life and family and culture and caring for people and paying it forward. I’ve realized that more since being here at Partners.

How did you end up working for Partners? Or what inspired you to get involved in the homebuilding industry?

I came on board part-time for ARRIVE at Evanston and the rest is history. It’s a really beautiful development.

What’s your favourite community built by Partners and why?

I love them all personally. My favourite right now, I have to say I love ARRIVE at Sage Meadows because we’re offering a little bit more in terms of options than we have in the past. That means we’re able to offer affordability for people and we’re able to attract a lot of different buyers. For example, we have products with and without garages. Based on that, we get more of a variety of purchasers, including those starting out or looking to downsize.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I’m also a licensed realtor so, if I have any extra time from Partners Development Group, I sell homes and work with buyers. On a personal level, I love hanging out with my family – my daughter, my son and husband. I have a pretty big family that would totally take up all of my time if they could. Family time is really what I love. Family time is really important.

What’s your favourite memory from your time working at Partners?

There are so many. I can’t say one thing over another personally. Partners is like family to me and I feel like every time we’re all together it’s such an amazing time. Everyone is like siblings, just having good time. It’s like we gather together to catch up on all the good times – the sales team, construction team and the design team. Every moment I cherish that we spend together. And we collaborate – it’s the best part for me.

The culture and environment that we created is like the epitome of a great company. You just want to be in this type of organization, where you’re valued, appreciated, you’re respected and you count, and together you build the company. It’s a great feeling. Obviously it has to start at the core and that’s Greg. He embodies everything you could ever hope for in a leader – he’s one that’s going to lead and I’m going to keep following. I’ll be right behind him all the way as a partner in the success of the company. It’s a team effort. Everyone’s willing to go the extra mile because you know the result and where it’s leading everyone.

What’s something that your colleagues may not know about you?

When I was ten or so I thought I’d be the world’s most famous super model. I was in a modelling agency and modelling in Calgary but it was a little too much so I didn’t go very far with it. It was a good experience. Then I decided to focus on school and I thought I was going to grow up to be a doctor.

What’s the secret to building great homes? What makes Partners different to other companies?

The secret is in the core of the company. I’m talking about who is behind it. Sometimes you get big brand names but behind all of that it’s just dollars and cents. The biggest part of Partners for me is Greg. For him, he built this company with passion and he has a vision that every home he builds shows quality and the people that move in need to see and feel it. It’s really important. With a lot of builders it’s numbers and, although that’s how you keep moving forward, how you separate yourself from the rest is that passion. And getting down and dirty. Greg’s hands touch the dirt and his boots are right there on the ground. That’s where the core values of builders come from.

Do you have any advice for first-time homebuyers?

It’s a brand new experience. You’ve likely never had to read the contract before, for example. The best advice I could give is to talk to somebody – a sales associate or someone. Sit down and ask as many questions as possible. It’s important that we educate our buyers so they make the right decisions. So don’t be afraid to ask questions – its so important to ask about what you’re getting and what the process is. You need handholding the first time around. For everybody that has that support, it’s always a better transaction and a better overall experience because they’re confident and educated. Not everybody does that. For us at Partners, it’s important that our clients are educated and understand and we’re there any time for questions. So ask questions and don’t fear that you don’t know.
